Engaging users on the on the App
We met with the 9GAG team in Hong Kong and came to understand the specific goals and opportunities of this project. Their main concern was that, while 9GAGʼs website and social platforms enjoy consistently high levels of engagement, users were significantly less likely to consume content on the app. We identified a three-pronged approach to reengineer the 9GAG experience for iPhone: improve usability, increase speed and stability, add new features.
A Fun-Forward Approach
Creating a product for millions of passionate, meme enthusiasts was at the forefront of our minds throughout every step of this project. We curated the appʼs design to reflect 9GAGʼs culture: lively and fun.
Entertaining an Expansive User Base
By researching usersʼ behaviour patterns on the platform, we were able to successfully anticipate and address the needs of the millions who use 9GAG as their go-to feed for LOLs. Creating a product for highly-engaged meme enthusiasts was at the forefront of our minds.
